The Innis College Student Society is an organization of elected and appointed members that aim to represent the interests of students at Innis College. We manage student services, host events, and pursue initiatives that benefit student life outside of the classroom at Innis. The governing body of just over 2200 students, the ICSS is proud to have a strong history of political activism, community building, and good spirits.

What We Do

Consisting of a wide range of both representatives and portfolios, the ICSS social, equity and outreach, sustainability, athletics, and clubs and merchandise portfolios and first year, graduating, international, and off-campus representatives, the ICSS is involved in diverse avenues of the student experience.

All social events and community building activities shape the university experience. They ensure that all students feel welcomed, included, and supported, where we find a second home here at Innis. They also provide opportunities to meet new people, create connections and inspire learning outside of the classroom.

A variety of social events are hosted throughout the year including city outings, the annual formal, banquets, and pub nights. We organize intramural sports, supporting Innis teams in soccer, basketball, volleyball, ultimate frisbee, inner tube water polo, ice hockey, and flag football. The ICSS works with university organizations to facilitate academic and wellbeing programming including resource seminars, exam de-stressers, and therapy dogs. We support the arts and advocacy through programming including the benefit concert for mental health, the movember shave-off, and art gala.

Many Innis students also find community and friendship within our clubs. Although new groups are being proposed each year, the current roster includes clubs for students interested in choir, art, and board games, as well as a club for LGBTQ+ students and their allies. The ICSS also supports the Innis Herald Newspaper and the Cinema Studies Student Union as well. Each of these clubs is open to all Innis students and are a great way to get involved.
